Finish Carpenter Tyler Grace (TRG Home Concepts) teams up with Kuiken Brothers Classical Moulding to create an unbelievably simple, yet well thought out “How To” video for a coffered/beam ceiling. This step-by-step video highlights the details from prep, beam blocking, profile selection, time-saving tips and techniques by pre-fabricating boxes on the floor and many more insights from Tyler.
The substructures are all created on the floor, in advance to create the blocking for mid-spans, outside corners, perimeter to intersections of wall beams are all prepped.
The profiles used for this project were inspired by Coffer #6 as featured in our Moulding Design Guide. The KB319 acts as the primary crown throughout the coffers and the KB308 and KB202 combine to create a unique assembly for the perimeter beam. All of the boxes and beams were constructed with 1×4 S4SSE protected trim boards from WindsorONE, the exclusive primed pine trimboard in-stock at Kuiken Brothers.
