This follows English Architect Robert Adam’s logical theory of reduction in trim details in his book, Classical Architecture. For example, every Kuiken Brothers Classical Moulding casing/ architrave option is available in a 5-1/2”, 4-1/2” and 3-1/2” proportionately scaled replica. Each Kuiken Brothers’ Classical Moulding base moulding has an identically matching base cap. Having the design flexibility which would have previously only been available with a custom moulding at the price and availability of a stock moulding allows you to offer your clients a distinctly unique house at a greater value. Plus, there are no lead times waiting on a custom run as these are in-stock at Kuiken Brothers locations.

Following this theory, we are pleased to offer you a Greek Revival Style Moulding package for an entire house.  Greek Revival Style mouldings are typically plain and bold with little decoration. They feature flat faces in an effort to mimic stone. You’ll notice these similar elements in the base, casing and crown moulding details. For homes of today this simple, yet bold application is often chosen by those looking for a modern or contemporary look.

This home features 9’ ceilings on the first floor and 8’ ceilings on the second floor. The photo gallery below showcases the Greek Revival Style moulding profiles that we have selected for the first floor. The fact that this is a public space with taller, 9′ ceilings allows us to be a little more intricate in our profile selection. This floor features a boxed cornice and 5-1/2″ casings. Note the casing detail known as a crossetted corner, or an eared architrave. This unique decorative element was typically found in Greek Revival and Georgian style homes to help add an extra decorative element. It is not required, but will differentiate a house built today. The backband of our stock casing can be ripped off and a filler added to quickly replicate this look.

The images below showcase the moulding selection that we have chosen for the less formal, first floor living space. The ceiling height here is 8′ so the cornice detail is not as elaborate, but since this is still a public space we have still chosen a two profile cornice combination to continue the Greek Revival theme throughout the space.

And finally, we come to the bedroom moulding selection. This space is private and therefor does not need to be as elaborate or intricate. This affords the client a little extra in their budget to focus on the first floor details, impressing guests, heightening first impression experience, and ultimately increasing resale value.
