The primary role of the Sales Representative is to assist our customers in the selection, purchase and distribution of lumber, drywall, millwork, hardware, and all building materials by performing the following duties with a strong emphasis on customer service.

Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):

  • Advise customers in the appropriate selection of materials.
  • Coordinate deliveries and will call logistics for customers.
  • Create sales orders, quotes, and invoices accurately with strong attention to detail.
  • Thorough and routine follow up on all quotes.
  • Coordinate purchase orders and lead times with vendors
  • Maintain an organized and accurate order file.
  • Collect and apply payments from customers as per company policy.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked work area.
  • Grow sales through relationship management and recommendations of appropriate products and accessory products.
  • Assist in supporting all sales efforts as directed by management.
  • Provide regular support to all inside and outside sales reps as needed.
  • Assist in merchandising, cycle counting, and store maintenance as required by management.
  • Remain knowledgeable on all products and industry trends through regular training and continuing education.

 Technical Competencies:

  • Knowledge of BisTrack, preferred
  • Strong computer skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)

Qualifications: (Education and yrs of experience)

  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English – spoken and written professional etiquette is required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One to three years of experience in building materials and/or retail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of industry products

  • Judgment and thinking (strategic thinking, original thinking, judgment and decision making, problem solving, awareness)
  • Performance skills (accuracy with detail, planning and organizing, efficiency, business acumen)
  • Leadership (ability to take charge of a situation and make sure it gets resolved)
  • Communication (verbal communication, written communication, the ability to synthesize and present financial data clearly and concisely)
