This course covers the basics of deck design and construction, including the concept of continuous load path and the critical connections involved in deck construction. Related code requirements are referenced per the International Building Code® (IBC) and International Residential Code® (IRC). The course also reviews connector and fastener selection, load capacity, and corrosion issues. The course is intended to help design professionals ensure decks are safe, strong and code compliant.
Presentations has been updated to the 2015 codes. Discussion of specific connectors will be had after the formal presentation.

That bright orange book on your shelf has a lot of great fire resistant information and is easy to use! Learn how to master the UL Fire Resistance Directory and use this resource in an effective and efficient way. We will take a basic look at this book and then drill down to examine fire-rated designs and assemblies. As a participant, you will have a clear understanding of the Underwriters Laboratories Fire Resistant Directory, learn about the three types of fire resistant gypsum wallboard, analyze gypsum wallboard fire-rated designs, and determine the most effective gypsum UL Design for your project.
Discussion of specific gypsum board assembly options will be had after the formal presentation.
