Chosen for the Scout House: Why Scout & Nimble Selected Kuiken Brothers Classical Moulding

When Scout & Nimble set out to create its highly anticipated Scout House, every finish, furnishing, and architectural detail had to earn its place. The project wasn’t simply about designing another beautiful home—it was about creating a living portfolio of timeless design, showcasing products that interior designers and discerning homeowners would be proud to incorporate into their own projects.

Among some of the country’s most respected furniture makers, lighting manufacturers, textile brands, and artisan suppliers, Kuiken Brothers Classical Moulding Collection was selected to establish the architectural framework of the home.

That recognition means a great deal to us.

After all, when a company known for curating exceptional design chooses your moulding collection from the countless profiles available across North America, it’s an incredible endorsement of both craftsmanship and timeless architectural proportion.

The Vision Behind Scout House

Scout House was created as an immersive demonstration of thoughtful, enduring design. Rather than chasing short-lived trends, the project embraces the belief that great homes should feel collected over time, layered with natural materials, authentic craftsmanship, and architectural details that improve with age.

The home blends traditional American architecture with refined European influences, creating spaces that feel warm, inviting, and remarkably livable. Rich textures, natural wood tones, handcrafted finishes, antique-inspired furnishings, and carefully curated lighting all work together to create interiors that feel both elevated and approachable.

Every room was designed around one central idea:

The architecture itself should be beautiful before a single piece of furniture is brought into the room.

That’s where moulding becomes indispensable.

The Foundation of Every Great Interior

Paint colors evolve. Accessories change with the seasons. But the architectural framework of a home remains for generations.

Throughout Scout House, our Classical Moulding Collection establishes that framework through carefully scaled details including:

These elements quietly establish rhythm, proportion, depth, and shadow throughout each room.

Rather than competing with the furnishings, they provide the architectural backdrop that allows every carefully selected piece from Scout & Nimble to feel intentional.

It’s a perfect reminder that exceptional interiors begin long before furniture is delivered.

Why Interior Designers Continue to Rediscover Traditional Moulding

Today’s best designers understand something that has guided classical architecture for centuries:

Architectural detail creates permanence.

Properly proportioned mouldings add depth, define transitions, frame views, and establish visual hierarchy throughout a home. They transform otherwise flat drywall into interiors that feel crafted rather than constructed.

Scout House demonstrates this beautifully.

The mouldings never overwhelm the spaces—they simply make every room feel richer, more intentional, and more complete.

In-Stock Classical Moulding—Crafted from Primed Appalachian Poplar

Every moulding profile used in Scout House comes from our in-stock Classical Moulding Collection, manufactured from premium finger-jointed Appalachian Poplar and factory primed on all four sides.

That offers several advantages for designers, builders, and finish carpenters:

  • Crisp, sharp profile definition that faithfully reproduces traditional moulding & millwork details
  • Excellent stability compared to many alternative paint-grade materials
  • Smooth, consistent surfaces ready for finish painting
  • Factory back-primed to help promote dimensional stability
  • Long 16-foot lengths that reduce joints and create cleaner installations
  • Consistent profile quality from project to project

The result is moulding that installs beautifully while delivering the crisp shadow lines and refined detailing expected in high-end residential architecture.

A Different Approach Than Almost Every Other Moulding Collection

Kuiken Brothers Poplar Moulding Classical Modern Shipping Nationwide

Perhaps the most unique aspect of our Classical Moulding Collection isn’t simply the profiles themselves.

It’s how designers can source them.

Most architectural moulding collections depend on regional distributors or local lumberyards. That means designers specifying projects across multiple states often have to start over with unfamiliar local offerings every time they begin a new project.

We believe there is a better way.

Because Kuiken Brothers stocks and manages the collection ourselves, we can ship directly from our Architectural Millwork Shops in New Jersey and New York to jobsites nationwide.

  • There is no need to hunt for regional substitutes.
  • No need to redesign details because a local supplier doesn’t stock the profiles.
  • No need to compromise your design vocabulary from one project to the next.

Instead, interior designers can build a trusted library of moulding profiles that become part of their signature aesthetic—knowing those same profiles can be specified again and again, regardless of where the next project is located.

That consistency is invaluable for firms designing homes across the country.

More Than Products—A Design Partner

When designers specify Kuiken Brothers, they’re not simply ordering moulding.

They’re gaining access to a team that understands architectural millwork.

From profile selection and CAD resources to coordinating nationwide shipments, our specialists work alongside designers, architects, and builders to help ensure that the architectural details envisioned during design are faithfully executed on the jobsite.

As projects become more sophisticated, having knowledgeable support behind every specification becomes just as valuable as the products themselves.

Honored to Be Part of Scout House

Scout & Nimble has built its reputation by discovering products that help designers create extraordinary homes.

To know that our Classical Moulding Collection earned a place among the furnishings, finishes, and materials selected for Scout House is both humbling and deeply rewarding. Projects like Scout House in Columbia, Missouri reaffirm something we’ve believed for decades:

  • The most memorable interiors don’t begin with furniture.
  • They begin with architecture.
  • And timeless architecture begins with thoughtfully proportioned moulding.

This project is proof that classical design isn’t about nostalgia—it’s about longevity. When done right, classical moulding doesn’t make a home feel old. It makes it feel timeless.

Build with the Best—No Matter Where Your Projects Are Located

Whether you’re building or remodeling a home in Alpine, NJ, Boston, MA or Palm Beach, FL, Kuiken Brothers’ Classical moulding profiles are available for shipment nationwide. Our team is here to support you from design through delivery—ensuring your vision comes to life with precision, beauty, and timeless style.

Kuiken Brothers has a tremendous in-stock and ready to ship collection that can quickly transform your project into one with character and Classical style. Our very own Classical Moulding Collection was launched in 2010.

Kuiken Brothers’ profiles are categorized by architectural style (Early American, Georgian, Federal, Greek Revival, Colonial Revival, Traditional Revival, and Modern Craftsman) to show which crown, casing and base mouldings go together. In the past, coordinating design elements was difficult and time-consuming and many of these profiles were available only through custom production runs. Kuiken Brothers offers free moulding samples so potential buyers can match them to existing mouldings or see how they will actually look before installation. CAD files are offered on-line for architects and designers to incorporate detail to their blueprints.
