Nestled in the exclusive enclave of Alpine, NJ—one of the most affluent zip codes in the country—Kuiken Brothers recently supplied an extraordinary millwork package to a custom home that redefines timeless elegance. This stunning estate is a prime example of how thoughtful architectural millwork can elevate a home into something truly exceptional.
A Collaboration Rooted in Craftsmanship
Working closely with the builder and our Architectural Millwork Services team, the homeowner was able to select from Kuiken Brothers’ extensive Classical Moulding Collection and Modern Craftsman Moulding Collection. The result is a millwork-rich environment that feels both grounded in tradition and bold in its design.
Moulding Profiles That Make a Statement
The interior of the home was meticulously detailed with a curated selection of profiles:
Crown Moulding
- KB379 Cove Crown
- KB342 Stepped Cove Crown
- A unique combination of KB379 and KB108 for added depth and drama
Window & Door Casing
KB117 Greek Revival Casing—simple yet stately
Base Moulding
KB234 paired with a 5/4″ x 4″ extension and finished with KB505 Shoe Moulding for a bold foundation
Each profile was milled from engineered poplar, chosen for its smooth paint-grade finish, consistency, and superior performance over MDF or imported softwoods—especially in high-end applications like this.
A Mahogany Welcome
The entryway immediately sets the tone. Supplied through Kuiken Brothers, the front door is a stunning mahogany entry system from Signature Door, proudly manufactured in the United States. Rich in character and unmatched in durability, this piece perfectly balances form and function.
The Pivot Point of Modern Luxury
One of the home’s standout features is a 10′ tall by 3’6″ wide pivot door installed where the hinges simply disappear—an unexpected yet elegant architectural statement. It operates with remarkable smoothness and offers a glimpse into how traditional craftsmanship and modern functionality can coexist beautifully.
Why Poplar? Why Kuiken Brothers?
Poplar is the ideal species for paint-grade moulding in a luxury project of this caliber. Unlike MDF or finger-jointed pine, poplar offers:
- Crisp, sharp edges for detailed profiles
- Greater dimensional stability and impact resistance
- A smooth, blemish-free surface for superior paint adhesion
When paired with Kuiken Brothers’ in-stock inventory, historic accuracy, and detailed CAD files, it’s no surprise our moulding collections are trusted in some of the most prestigious homes across the country.
Build with the Best—No Matter Where You Are
Whether you’re building a home in Alpine, NJ, Los Angeles, CA, or Palm Beach, FL, Kuiken Brothers’ Classical moulding profiles are available for shipment nationwide. Our team is here to support you from design through delivery—ensuring your vision comes to life with precision, beauty, and timeless style.
Kuiken Brothers has a tremendous in-stock and ready to ship collection that can quickly transform your project into one with character and Classical style. Our very own Classical Moulding Collection was launched in 2010.
Kuiken Brothers’ profiles are categorized by architectural style (Early American, Georgian, Federal, Greek Revival, Colonial Revival, Traditional Revival, and Modern Craftsman) to show which crown, casing and base mouldings go together. In the past, coordinating design elements was difficult and time-consuming and many of these profiles were available only through custom production runs. Kuiken Brothers offers free moulding samples so potential buyers can match them to existing mouldings or see how they will actually look before installation. CAD files are offered on-line for architects and designers to incorporate detail to their blueprints.
