This course covers the basics of deck design and construction, including the concept of continuous load path and the critical connections involved in deck construction.  Related code requirements are referenced per the International Building Code® (IBC) and International Residential Code® (IRC) 2015 version. The course also reviews connector and fastener selection, load capacity, and corrosion issues. The course is intended to help design professionals ensure decks are safe, strong and code compliant.

After the formal AIA presentation, the introduction of many new products and new applications which will assist the designer in meeting unusual condition and help reduce the costs of building code compliant decks.
