Course Overview:
Windows and doors must balance aesthetics, energy efficiency, and structural performance while meeting requirements for wind load, air leakage, water resistance, and security. This course provides an introduction to fenestration performance, focusing on structural joining systems (mulls), their role in overall performance, and the codes and standards that govern them.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify how individual and mulled fenestration products are evaluated for performance
- Recognize key test standards and code requirements for structural joining systems
- Differentiate between reinforced and unreinforced joining systems and their appropriate applications
- Explain the difference between Design Pressure (DP) and Performance Grade (PG) ratings
