Join Kuiken Brothers and award-winning master builder Brent Hull for an in-depth look at the history, craftsmanship, and enduring beauty of architectural millwork.In “Millwork: The Design and Manufacturing of Historic Millwork from 1740 to 1950,” Brent will explore the doors, windows, moldings, mantels, paneled walls, built-ins, and other millwork elements that define historic architecture.

Drawing from decades of experience in historic preservation and traditional building, Brent will examine how these elements were designed, manufactured, and constructed from the 18th through the 20th centuries and how the transition from hand craftsmanship to industrial manufacturing changed traditional millwork after World War II.

Featuring rare illustrations, historic drawings, and diagrams from Brent’s private collection, the presentation will offer a unique look at the craftsmanship and design principles behind historic millwork while demonstrating their continued relevance in contemporary architecture, restoration, and traditional design.
