In this YouTube video, Tyler Grace, TRG Home Concepts, a New Jersey based renovation contractor demonstrates how to integrate an Andersen Window into an exterior wall assembly using Huber Engineered Wood’s ZIP R-Sheathing. He explains the challenges of working with energy-efficient wall assemblies that include foam insulation and sheathing, emphasizing the importance of attaching the window to the structural components rather than just the sheathing.
The installation process includes framing the window, adding necessary insulation, and then sealing the opening with ZIP proprietary tape to create a weather-resistant barrier. Tyler uses a shingle-style layering method, starting from the bottom and working upwards to ensure a secure and airtight assembly. This technique is ideal for building energy-efficient homes and for renovations where ZIP sheathing isn’t already installed.
