The primary role of the Assistant Yard Foreman is to assist the Yard Foreman in supervising all activities of the yard including Operations Representatives, equipment, vehicles, deliveries, receiving and unloading, yard housekeeping and maintenance of all yard equipment and delivery vehicles.

Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):

  • Assist retail and contractor customers in yard area
  • Assist yard foreman in delegating tasks to Operations Representatives
  • Assist in loading and unloading truck via pallets or manual delivery; perform daily distribution of product
  • Keep the yard area clean and presentable in appearance
  • Supervise yard inventory counts both cyclical and for year-end inventory
  • Maintain security and watch for pilferage and theft of product from the yard
  • Assist in training Operations personnel
  • Ensure compliance to all safety and fire regulations for both Operations personnel and customers
  • Conduct a physical check of all materials on all trucks prior the leaving the premise for delivery.
  • Supervises and ensures incoming vendor trucks are unloaded in a timely manner and are checked for accuracy.

Technical Competencies:

  • Knowledge of BisTrack, preferred
  • Strong math skills

Qualifications (Education and years of experience):

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge of industry products
  • Forklift license

  • Moving frequently, standing and walking
  • Frequent reaching, holding and grasping with hands when loading and unloading product
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending, and squatting
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs. Occasional lifting of up to 115 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Oversees the daily activities of the Operations Representatives
