New retail site features a 12-acre, state-of-the-art, drive-through lumber and building and materials facility

June 15, 2011 — Kuiken Brothers Company Inc., a leading supplier of quality lumber, millwork, building materials and related services, announces the opening of its ninth location, in Succasunna, New Jersey. The new retail site features a 12-acre, state-of-the-art, drive-through lumber and building materials facility that will serve builders, remodelers and home-owners.

“Since its founding, Kuiken Brothers has been strategically expanding its New Jersey market, which now includes Succasunna,” said Douglas Kuiken, Kuiken Brothers’ president. “We’re delivering on our promise to be the leading supplier of lumber, millwork and building materials in the markets we serve.”

The Succasunna location features thousands of residential and commercial building materials; an on-site window and door showroom; a kitchen selection center; an on-site window assembly shop; rail siding, which provides directmill shipments; and a Benjamin Moore Paint Selection center. In addition, Kuiken Brothers offers continuing education seminars, has on-site kitchen designers, free product literature and samples, and veteran building and sales associates to help answer construction or do-it-yourself questions.

The drive-through lumberyard will be convenient for builders in Morris, Essex, Sussex, Warren and Union counties as a one-stop location to pick-up materials and meet with customers to make product selections. For quick jobsite deliveries, the Succasunna location features a fleet of vehicles including boom trucks, flat beds and millwork vans. Featured inventory will include a vast array of lumber and building materials from engineered lumber, windows and doors, to drywall, mouldings, decking/railing, and hand and power tools.

Kuiken Brothers has revitalized an existing lumberyard site, which will use Morristown & Erie rail service. The service to the site was inactive for more than a decade and has been completely rehabilitated.

Rail service is integral to Kuiken Brothers as it enables the company to purchase lumber direct from lumber mills, which ensures consistent quality and keeps costs down. Customers benefit from access to superior lumber at competitive prices.

Each year Kuiken Brothers receives and unloads more than 500 rail cars loaded with an assortment of plywood, OSB, studs, pre-cuts and dimension lumber shipped directly from lumber mills. Because the amount of material in each rail car is equivalent to approximately three fully-loaded tractor trailers, the company is able to reduce truck traffic on local roads by more than 1,500 throughout the year. This helps Kuiken Brothers reduce is carbon footprint and be a better corporate neighbor.

We have designated permanent conservation easements to buffer Horseshoe Lake, a popular recreation area. Lastly, we have worked closely with the Roxbury Township planning board to ensure that our lumberyard is an asset to the local community.”
