The ThruLOK system combines the speed of a LOK product with the strength of a through-bolted connection in three decking applications: Single 2x to 4x Decking Posts (6 1⁄4"), Notched 6x Carrying Beams (7") and Double 2x to Single 4x Decking Posts (8").

ThruLOK is a three-part assembly including a ThruLOK fastener featuring the patent-pending Paddle Point™, engineered washer, and LOK-Nut. Other features include:

Cap-Tor Screws for Kleer, Trex Transcend, Modernview, Horizon Decking - Available at Kuiken Brothers in NJ & NY

Kuiken Brothers is now stocking the Cap-Tor screws to accommodate some of our new decking lines, including Kleer Decking, ModernView Decking, Trex Decking and Fiberon Horizon.

Cap-Tor is the only screw on the market designed specifically for capstock or coextruded decking. Cap-Tor provides the same level of performance in composite decking as Starborn's previous composite screws, but features additional design modifications that address some of the particular problems that occur with capstock, including curled waste, dimpling and white shear, as soon below.

Capstock decking has an extra strong and stable outer layer with more natural looking grains and colors. Typical composite decking fasteners cause several defects in the surface of capstock (dimpling, white shear and curled waste). Capstock decks fastened with Cap-Tor have a clean, smooth and uniform appearance around the screw. With Cap-Tor, the superior finish, grain and color of capstock decking is undiminished by the fasteners used to install it.

Simpson Strong-Tie has launched a new series of structural wood screws for fastening multi-ply truss and engineered-wood assemblies.

The new Strong-Drive SDW screws install from one side, firmly cinching plies together while eliminating the need to flip heavy girders.

The bold thread design of the SDW allows installers to fasten 2, 3 and 4-ply trusses or 1 3/4" engineered lumber from one side, saving time. The SDW features a large, flush head which makes applying drywall much simpler since the head doesn't protrude from the girder. In addition, the high shear strength of the SDW cuts down the number of fasteners required, reducing material and labor cost.

Fastenmaster ThruLok Structural Wood to Wood Fasteners - Available at Kuiken Brothers in NJ & NY

ThruLOK is the newest addition to the FastenMaster LOK Line of structural wood-to-wood fasteners. ThruLOK offers the speed of a LOK Line Product and the strength of a through-bolted connection. ThruLOK is a three-part assembly including a ThruLOK fastener featuring the patent-pending Paddle Point™, engineered washer, and LOK-Nut.

Put the ThruLOK-Washer on the ThruLOK screw with the teeth of the washer facing away from the head of the fastener. No predrilling required when properly installed.

Using a 1⁄2" high torque variable speed drill (18V if cordless), drive the ThruLOK until washer and hex head are just above the wood surface (approx 1⁄4") and point of screw protrudes out other side of connection. Thread the ThruLOK-Nut onto point of fastener. Hand tighten nut until flush with wood. Tighten screw with drill. Repeat to match code-compliant fastening pattern.

NOTE: Point of fastener must engage in ThruLok-Nut to “MIN” line or beyond.

ThruLOK comes in specific lengths that allow contractors to replace their 1⁄2" carriage and through-bolts in three primary deck applications:

6 1⁄4" fastener – Single 2x to 4x Decking Posts
7" fastener – Notched 6x Carrying Beams
8" fastener – Double 2x to Single 4x Decking Posts
