Kuiken Brothers is now entering our second season with Perennial Wood Decking. This is REAL WOOD (Southern Yellow Pine), not PVC or composite, which is modified on the cellular level to resist moisture intrusion. It is ultra-resistant to cupping, bowing, cracking, splitting and all of the other negative aspects that tend to be common with real wood. Watch the stairway tread and riser video below.
Perennial Wood stair treads are avialable with rounded nose and groove surface. Perennial Wood decking can also be used for stair treads and risers. The basic requirements are shown in DCA-6. However, check with local code officials to ensure code compliance and to reduce risk of serious injury.
(Perennial Wood decking is not suitable for use as stringers)
Prefrill pilot holes (3/32" diameter through the boards) and use through-face fasteners (#8 x 2-1/2" stainless steel screws) to attach deck boards or stair treads to the stair stringers.
We are very excited about what the future holds with Perennial Wood. If you would like more information, or would like us to mail you a Perennial Wood catalog, give us a call, visit one of our locations, or fill out our Contact Us Form and a Kuiken Brothers representative will follow up with you right away. We look forward to working with you on your next Perennial Wood project!
