This segment will deal in detail with face veneers as they relate to the wood door industry. Distinctions and comparisons will be drawn between the furniture and plywood industry. This segment addresses how to specify the correct hardware for positive pressure applications.

3:15 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. Wood Door Construction

The objective of this presentation is to become familiar with wood door construction materials and techniques. The discussion will address evolving technologies of door construction including face selection, core types including particlecore, stave core, engineered core, rapidly renewable core, crossbands, door assembly, machining, finishing methods and construction, including 5 ply, 7 ply, hot press, cold press, and specifications.

3:45 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. Factory Finishing vs. Field Finishing

This segment will begin by discussing the benefits of factory finishing and the disadvantages of field finish. This discussion will be followed by a quick demonstration that I can assure you will “rock their socks off!”
