HAWTHORNE, NJ. July 21, 2005 -- Kuiken Brothers Company
Inc. and BlueLinx Corporation presented Steven Shortway,
a police officer from the Village of Ridgewood, NJ, a custom
chopper built by Orange County Choppers at Shortways Barn.
Steven attended a Kuiken Brothers Customer Appreciation
event for a chance to see an OCC custom chopper built for
BlueLinx, the largest building products distributor in the
United States. Attendees had the chance to enter a raffle
to win a separate OCC custom chopper co-sponsored by BlueLinx
and Stanley-Bostitch. Steven was chosen out of 10,000
applicants from similar events held across the United States.
“The first news of winning the motorcycle came with
skepticism because I have never won or known anyone to win
a prize like this before” said Steven. “When
the truck finally arrived with the motorcycle at Shortways,
it was a dream come true.”
The festivities began on Tuesday when Steven got a tour
of the Orange County Chopper facility, where they were filming
an upcoming episode of American Chopper . “The
OCC experience was everything I imagined it to be, business
as usual” said Steven. “What stands out in my
mind about the trip to Orange County Choppers were the motorcycles.
One can not really appreciate the motorcycles until you see
one in person.”
A planned presentation at Kuiken Brothers Company in Midland
Park was moved to Shortways Barn on Goffle Rd. in Hawthorne
when the transport vehicle experienced some difficulties
getting the chopper unloaded. But the delayed delivery
drew an even larger crowd as friends and family members lined
the parking lot to get the first glimpse of the chopper.
When asked about his new Chopper, Steven said “The
bike rides like a Cadillac, smooth and powerful, and roars
like thunder.”
