"Kuiken Brothers is a valued corporate partner as well as a valued vendor," said Gina Damiano, Paterson Habitat for Humanity Resource Development Manager. "The company has worked closely with Paterson Habitat since our first building project in 1984. Kuiken Brothers has provided us with quality lumber and building materials. This year Kuiken employees are volunteering their time, energy and skills to support our mission of building affordable homes for low-income families. We are thrilled to be a part of Kuiken Brothers' 100th anniversary activities."

"The Paterson Habitat for Humanity Corporate Challenge is a way for Kuiken Brothers' employees to further participate in our local communities," said Douglas R. Kuiken, president of Kuiken Brothers Company. "Kuiken Brothers and its employees decided to become actively involved in providing their time and talent to Paterson Habitat as part of our 100th anniversary celebration plans. It feels great to contribute not only financially and with goods and services but also with good old-fashion hard work. It's personally fulfilling as well as a team-building experience for all of us."

This year's Corporate Challenge involved more than three dozen companies from the tri-state area. Teams of employees worked half-day shifts during the four-week fundraiser. At lunch volunteers met incoming families and Habitat staff members so they could put faces behind their efforts. 100% of funds raised by this event goes toward building Paterson Habitat houses.

Elmwood Supply has been in business since 1970 and was acquired in 2003 as a commercial interior building materials facility and a location of Kuiken Brothers. The store features a large selection of drywall, steel studs, metal studs, ceiling tile, ceiling grids, commercial doors and commercial hardware. Specialties include a range of delivery capabilities, including four, six and eight story boom, and an in-house project management team for large commercial, institutional, medical and government projects.

"We are experiencing significant growth in the commercial building market and expect the trend to continue in 2012," said Douglas Kuiken, Kuiken Brothers' president. "We changed the store name because we want the Kuiken Brothers brand to be synonymous with the New Jersey and New York commercial building industry. We will continue to provide the same quality products and superior customer service our commercial contractors demand."

Kuiken Brothers recently increased its inventory of commercial building materials when it opened its newest location, in Succasunna, New Jersey, expanding Kuiken Brothers ability to service projects throughout its territory. Given the size and opportunities presented by the Succasunna facility, Kuiken Brothers now offers both a traditional line of residential building materials, typical for a Kuiken Brothers location, and also a commercial line.

"We strive to meet the immediate and future needs of our building communities," said Kuiken. "We understand that builders need to move quickly and have access to the supplies they need in a timely manner. We are committed to offering products and services as conveniently as possible. We think the combination of the two locations do that."

Kuiken Brothers Made in the USA Classical Moulding Collection

Friday, 27 April 2012 12:06

Kuiken Brothers is proud to announce that our complete KB Classical Moulding collection is "Made in the USA". The collection includes designs found in American homes from over 200 years ago which have been brought back and are now milled from poplar, grown right here in local forests. From design, to forest, to manufacturing, to the installation in American homes, from start to finish, everything about the KB Classical Moulding Collection is 100% USA.

Kuiken Classical Moulding

According to a 2011 study by The Harrison Group and American Express, 65% of high-end shoppers prefer to buy products made in the United States.

"Our moulding products began with designs used more than two centuries ago in early America. They tell the story of American architectural, interior millwork," said Douglas R. Kuiken, president of Kuiken Brothers Company. "What continues to differentiate the KB Classical Moulding Collection is the mouldings are made from raw material from the United States and manufactured by American craftsmen. Our KB Classical Mouldings are true to their origins in design and true to 'Made in the USA' in materials and labor."

Kuiken Brothers' research for the collection began with the Library of Congress' Historic American Building Survey. Company researchers viewed and measured drawings, artifacts and photographs of local interior and architectural millwork.

We then engaged Brent Hull, a nationally-recognized historic moulding and millwork expert, to collaborate and ensure authenticity. Hull spent several days with our management team viewing local architecture and reviewing current moulding applications. Hull then sketched a number of different profiles from designs that were used in many early American homes.

The KB Classical Moulding collection is milled using wood from U.S. forests, specifically yellow poplar, a hardwood found predominantly in Eastern North America. Poplar was chosen because it is a non-resinous (non-bleeding) wood and mills to an extremely smooth surface.

Because of its characteristics, poplar provides for sharp lines and crisp edges, which are essential for the elegant designs chosen for the KB Classical Moulding collection. Another key benefit to the collection is that the entire collection is in stock at two of our locations (Succasunna, NJ and Fair Lawn, NJ).  Kuiken Brothers made a long-term commitment to this product line, with a significant inventory commitment to ensure product availability for our customers.

The KB Classical Moulding collection is a full circle story — from the original designs of more than 200 years ago, to the growth of poplar, to U.S. manufacturing, to the installation in today's homes. From start to finish, everything about the KB Classical Moulding Collection is 100% USA.

"Offering quality products that are made in the USA is extremely important to us," said Kuiken. "My family came to the United States as European immigrants more than a century ago. This country has provided us with jobs, a quality way of life and a way to show our loyalty and patriotism. We are proud to offer products made in America."
