Qualifies for 1-HSW Learning Unit

An overview of the current types of subfloor available and their product characteristics. Specific focus will be placed on the performance of each type of subfloor regarding strength, stiffness and water absorption. This study discusses the industry standards for these products and how high performance subfloor products differentiate by upholding higher test standards recognized by the International Code Council (ICC). The course reviews the effects of moisture on a subfloor, what to consider in glue’s used in subfloor products and best practices for installation. A short review for multi-family and light commercial structures wraps up this course.

An overview of present Energy Conservation Codes and Standards with emphasis on those sections affecting building envelope performance. Specific focus will be placed on air barrier technologies and components including a review of traditional methods/ shortcomings and how air leakage affects thermal performance in typical wood-framed construction. Study will primarily focus on wall applications examining two approaches to improve energy efficiency and also introduce and compare three alternative product solutions to improve the building envelope.

At the conclusion of the AIA/CES seminars, we invite you to visit the Huber Engineered Woods to learn about some of the in-stock options discussed during the morning’s educational classes.
